Dad's Sister - "Lilo"...

 

Well, that was his pet name for her.

They lived their adult lives on opposite sides of the planet, only meeting again once after Dad left Ireland in 1954 with Mum and my brothers.

 

I uncovered this beautiful photo of her in Mum's box of photos and had to find a way to display it. The composition had to be simple and meaningful.

 

I used wallpaper from our old villa that would be of the era from which this picture was taken.

The leaf skeleton is a reflection of the spiritual realm in which they both now reside.

 

Dad's pet name for her is spelled out in droplets at the bottom of the piece. 

 

Beautiful in it's simplicity I think.
